Despite cooler temperatures and drizzly rain, and a rumor that the parade was cancelled, the 2009 B/CS Christmas Parade went on! It was fun for all who attended as it was wet, but not as cold, as in years past. In attendance were Ginger and Ernie Wentrcek, with friends Ron and Jeannie Sylvia, in their 1925 Tudor sedan, Jennifer and Ross Lilleker, with friends Wayne Smith and Sarah Jones from England, in their 1925 Touring car. Austen Payne, Rachel Wendt and Michael McDonald were in a 1926 Roadster and Wesley and Karen James were fresh in from Montana with their 1915 Roadster.
The Model A group was entry number 26 and we were number 35, but there weren't too many entries in between us as it turned out. I think more than a few people decided at the last minute not to come. Likewise, the crowd attendance was down, too. The parade itself went a lot faster than in years past. This was partly due to the lower attendance, and I'm sure in part due to some of the regulations they have adopted.
We all had fun though! Ginger made hot chocolate for everyone and Karen made Christmas cookies. It was our English friends first ever parade and they enjoyed it. It is such a wonderful tradition for us and every year is different, so we look forward to what next year has to offer. Hope to see you there.
