Memories of the Texas Touring T’s May 14, 2009 Meeting

The May meeting of the Texas Touring T’s was kicked off by Tommy at the Feed Barn on Thursday May 14, 2009. Nancy was not present for the Treasurer’s report but Ben reported that he knew the balance was $350.00 less than last month due to reimbursing Ernie for club videos purchased.

Tommy proposed the club consider contributing to the Bruce Lilliker Memorial Scholarship Fund in Bruce’s memory. It was noted that Ross had previously expressed that he opposed the club making these types of contribution. Much of the club participated in discussing how to contribute something in memory of Bruce and his many great contributions to the Model T hobby. After much discussion, a motion was made and it carried that individuals would contribute rather than removing funds from the club. Jim Singleton said Jennifer Lilliker could collect U.S. checks from the individual members or Pay Pal and credit card payment was another method of contributing. It was requested that you note your affiliation with the Texas Touring T’s if you make a contribution.

Miscellaneous Member Reports

Ben reported that June 12th was Model T night at Travis Park. Drive your T and go watch the Brazos Valley Bombers play baseball. Tommy reported the Burton Cotton Gin Festival was rained out and the parade had been cancelled. Tommy also reported on his trip to the Pate Swap Meet at the Ft. Worth Motor Speedway. Ernie shared with the club an antique coin purse he had recently purchased on E-bay. The purse was used probably as an advertising give-away for George Yard’s car dealership in Waco, TX. Research turned up that a George Yard was listed in the Waco city directory from 1907 to 1918. Ben showed a video of the Azalea Tour compiled and narrated by Denny Irvine.

The program given by Tommy was regarding his experiences with roadside breakdowns. He began with when his fan blade broke and took out his radiator. He shared many of his experiences with Model T breakdowns and the solutions for them. Upon completion of the program Ernie moved that the meeting adjourn, it was seconded and sadly another great Texas Touring T meeting ended.
